Before your first trip to Korea, save the Korean name and full address of your accommodation, then test a route to one place you plan to visit. That small piece of preparation gives you a useful starting point when a search returns several similar names.
This guide walks through a practical setup: choose a map app, check that you have the right destination, and keep a copyable address ready. The address example below uses a public museum, so you can practice without sharing your hotel details.
1. Set up a map app before you need directions
NAVER Maps is one option for an English-language trip. The Korea Tourism Organization lists English among its supported languages. Install your chosen app through the official store link and try it while you still have time to explore the settings. Search for your accommodation, then look up one attraction. Before you travel, make sure you can identify both locations and compare walking and public-transport routes between them.
Check the app's current language setting on your own phone. An English interface does not mean every business name or user review will appear in the form you expect. Keep the Korean place name alongside the English one as a second search option.
2. Save an address card for each essential stop
For your first day, start with your accommodation and one planned destination. Put the following details together in a note you can read without opening a booking email:
- The place's English name.
- The Korean name, copied from the venue or accommodation's own information.
- The complete address, including any floor or entrance instructions supplied by the venue.
- A link to the official location or directions page.
- Your confirmed booking or arrival instructions, where relevant.
Check that the saved note opens on your phone in airplane mode before leaving home. Keep your accommodation card private, and show only the name and address when asking for directions. Keep room numbers and booking details out of public posts.
3. Practice with a real Seoul address
The National Museum of Korea lists its address as 137 Seobinggo-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Its Korean website gives the corresponding Korean address below. This is a worked search example, not a recommendation about today's exhibitions or opening hours. Check the museum's own visitor information if you plan to go. Try the English name first. Then paste the Korean name or address and compare the result. Check that the listing matches the street, building number and district. Do not choose a result just because its first few words look familiar.
For a hotel, restaurant or café with several branches, also compare the branch name with your confirmation. The brand name alone is not enough to verify the destination.
4. Check the journey, including the final approach
Before setting out, review the route from your actual starting point and check four details:
- Transport mode: confirm that you are reading the walking or public-transport option you intend to use.
- Transfers: decide whether the route's changes are comfortable for your group and luggage.
- Arrival point: compare the final stop or station with the venue's own directions.
- Entrance: check for a named gate, building, floor or meeting point in your booking instructions.
Treat a displayed travel time as an estimate. Leave additional time for finding the entrance, buying a ticket or simply taking a break. Recheck the route before departure rather than relying only on a screenshot made during planning.

Copy this template into a private note and replace every bracketed item with information from your accommodation. Keep booking codes in a separate note so you can show this card without exposing them.
