Choose your airport transfer by the journey to your accommodation, including the final walk. A fast train to Seoul Station is useful when your hotel is nearby. A bus can be easier when its stop is close to your entrance. For a group with several suitcases, comparing the complete journey may change which option makes sense.
Here is a practical way to choose between AREX, an airport bus and a taxi before you arrive.
Start with your terminal, arrival time and hotel address
Save your flight's arrival terminal and your accommodation's exact Korean address. Use that address when comparing routes: a neighborhood name alone does not identify the right station exit or bus stop.
Allow time after landing for immigration, baggage collection and reaching transport. Your aircraft's scheduled arrival is not your boarding time for a train or bus. If your flight is delayed, check your transfer again before buying a ticket.
Incheon Airport's rail guide places the railway facilities at the B1 transportation centers for both terminals. Follow the signs for the service you have chosen in your own terminal.
Compare the journey you will actually make
Use this table to shortlist an option, then check its current departure and your final walking route.

For example, someone staying beside Hongik University Station should compare the All-stop journey directly. Traveling to Seoul Station first could add an unnecessary return journey. A hotel marketed as being in Hongdae may still involve a substantial walk, so check its entrance.
Understand the two AREX services
The AREX Express serves Seoul Station and the two airport terminals, with no intermediate city stops. It uses reserved seats and requires its own ticket. AREX lists journey times of 43 minutes between Terminal 1 and Seoul Station and 51 minutes between Terminal 2 and Seoul Station. Those are train times, excluding waiting and onward travel.
The All-stop service also serves intermediate stations, including Hongik University and Gongdeok. It can be used with a single-use transport card or a prepaid transport card. Check the operator's current timetable and make sure the departure you select reaches your intended station.
What to budget for AREX
Fare snapshot checked September 12, 2026: the official Express booking page's fare guide shows KRW 13,000 per adult for non-members and KRW 12,500 for members. Use KRW 13,000 in a first budget if you are not relying on membership. This is the displayed fare guide, not a completed checkout or a guarantee for every future departure.
The Express introduction also lists higher standard-fare figures separately. They are not an extra charge to add to the displayed booking fare. Check the total offered for your selected train before payment.
The All-stop adult transport-card fare table gives these one-way amounts. They cover the listed rail journey, not onward travel to your hotel.

For an adult single-use card, add KRW 100 to the fare and pay a KRW 500 refundable deposit. Check child fares separately. A prepaid transport-card fare and the cash needed at a single-use machine are therefore different amounts.
Worked comparison for two adults: Terminal 1 to Seoul Station costs KRW 9,500 with transport cards on the All-stop service, versus KRW 26,000 using the displayed non-member Express fare. From Terminal 2, the All-stop total is KRW 10,700. Add any onward tickets to both options; a reserved Express seat may matter more to your group than the rail-price difference.
Choose a bus by its stop, then read the ticket instructions
Open the Airport Limousine route guide, select your route and check the airport-to-city direction. Compare the named stop with your hotel's own directions. Include the walk from that stop when weighing the bus against rail. The operator notes that its operating times can change with traffic and weather.
Ticket rules can depend on the company and terminal. An Airport Limousine notice says its passengers traveling from Terminal 2 to downtown Seoul must buy a ticket before boarding, using a B1 ticket counter or machine. This rule took effect on March 5, 2026. Check your own operator's instructions.
Make a separate plan for a late arrival
Check the last usable connection through to your accommodation. Reaching a city station does not guarantee that your next train will still be running.
Incheon Airport publishes separate Seoul night-bus information for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Check the departure, destination and final journey before relying on one. If taking a taxi, use the designated ranks shown in the airport taxi guide. That guide also explains night surcharges.
Compare total cost, then save your arrival plan
Add every traveler's ticket, connecting transport and any final taxi ride. For a taxi quote, ask whether tolls, waiting or night charges are included. Confirm that the vehicle can carry both your passengers and luggage; spare seats alone do not establish suitcase capacity.
Before flying, save one preferred route and one fallback: terminal, service, destination stop, hotel address and the remaining walk. Use the copyable Korean address card and map checklist to confirm the correct hotel branch and entrance. Keep a booked pickup's meeting instructions and delay policy with your private arrival notes.
