Seoul Moonlight Night Market is a neighborhood development project with six areas selected in 2026, rather than one market with a single entrance and shared nightly timetable. Start by choosing an area, then check the restaurant or event you actually want to visit. Being on the selected list does not establish that every outdoor table, discount, or visitor facility described in the project plan is available on your travel date.
The city announcement was published on 29 September 2026 and carries a 15 September dateline. It explains the selection and planned improvements through 2028. This distinction matters if you have seen “Moonlight Night Market” translated as though it were a single, already operating festival. The announcement is useful for understanding the project; a dated local notice or restaurant confirmation is needed to plan a particular evening.

Find an area before you search for an entrance

The selected names are Serosu-gil; Sadang Orak Moonlight Night Market Commercial Area; Konkuk University Taste Street; Changdong Station Commercial Area; Sadang 1-dong Food Street; and Sangbong Food Street. Use the full area name in your search and then narrow it to a specific business or meeting point. A broad neighborhood name can lead you to a station or street without identifying the table, shop, or event you intended to find.
Pay particular attention to the two Sadang entries. The city lists the Sadang Orak area in Gwanak-gu and Sadang 1-dong Food Street in Dongjak-gu. They are separately named selections. Do not exchange their names when copying an address, arranging a meeting, or checking an event notice. Save the exact Korean business name and street address once you have chosen somewhere to eat.
For a practical evening, compare an area with where you will already be that afternoon. A restaurant near your final sightseeing stop can be more useful than an unfamiliar area across the city. The project list is a starting point for choosing a neighborhood; it does not rank restaurants or identify a single best place for every visitor.
Selection is different from a confirmed event date

The city says the selected areas will build nighttime content around local food businesses, established stores, and cultural resources. It also plans outdoor food spaces suited to each area. These are descriptions of the project’s direction. They are not a common opening calendar, and the announcement does not give travelers a shared closing time for all six selections.
When you find a local event notice, check its year, exact date, hours, and organizer. Then identify whether it describes a one-off program, a participating restaurant, or a change to the street itself. An event held on one evening does not establish a weekly schedule. Likewise, a restaurant can have its own operating hours even when no district event is taking place.
A useful question for a restaurant is simple: “Are you open on this date, and is outdoor seating available then?” If you need a reservation, ask how it is confirmed and whether the confirmation covers the seating you requested. Keep the answer with the address. You will have a much firmer plan than one built only around the project’s English name.
Treat gift certificates as a separate decision

The announcement says the city will seek to issue Moonlight Love Gift Certificates in connection with Seoul Love Gift Certificates. It also describes possible visit-verification promotions and joint branding. That language does not tell you that a particular certificate is on sale today, that an overseas visitor can buy it, or that every business in the area accepts it.
Before relying on a promotion, read its actual purchase and redemption conditions. Match the participating store, validity period, eligible purchaser, and payment method to your own situation. A discount mentioned in a general project plan should not be included in your meal budget until you can identify an active offer that you can use.
You can still choose a restaurant without taking part in a promotion. Read the menu and confirm the price at the business. If several people share a dish, clarify how the menu describes the portion and whether an order is per person or per table. These questions concern the meal you are buying; the selected-area label does not answer them for you.
Check the facilities you need, especially with luggage

The city proposes facilities for storing strollers and suitcases, tailored to the conditions of each alley. If you arrive with bags, do not make an evening meal depend on that proposal alone. Ask the actual business or local organizer whether storage exists, where it is, its operating hours, and what size of bag it accepts. If the answer is unclear, arrange your luggage before going to the restaurant.
The same approach helps when you need step-free access, space for a stroller, or an indoor alternative. Ask about the specific entrance and seating area you plan to use. A neighborhood improvement project can have accessibility aims without proving the layout of every individual restaurant. Saving a precise entrance or meeting point also makes it easier for companions to arrive independently.
Choose one main meal and leave room to adjust the rest of the evening. Outdoor seating is only part of the plan; an indoor table or a shorter neighborhood walk may suit your group better on the day. If you combine dinner with a river journey, our guide to Hangang Bus group reservations explains why a group-booking announcement should be distinguished from a solo traveler’s transport plan.
Remember that these alleys are also residential surroundings

Safety, cleanliness, and coexistence with residents are stated principles of the project. The city describes agreements between merchants and residents to manage noise, odors, waste, and pedestrian safety. For visitors, this is a reason to follow the particular seating and movement arrangements you find at the location rather than treating the whole alley as an unrestricted festival space.
Keep walkways clear while waiting for a table or meeting friends. Ask the business where to queue and where to dispose of packaging. If your group wants a long conversation, choose a suitable table and follow the venue’s instructions. The attraction of a neighborhood evening is the chance to spend time in an ordinary part of Seoul while respecting the people who use it every day.
Before leaving your accommodation, keep four details together: the exact business and address, your date and confirmed hours, any reservation or payment conditions, and your route back. Those details make the selected-area list useful. The six-location announcement can help you discover a neighborhood, while the final decision about dinner comes from the place and date you actually choose.
